Coffee and tea contain caffeine and that’s the reason why they should be consumed in moderation.
An average cup of coffee contains around 95 mg caffeine, a shot of espresso about 60 mg and three-minute brewed black tea yields about 20 mg ☕
What are the effects of caffeine?
Consuming small amounts of caffeine (around 100 mg) can be associated with positive effects such as a mood elevation and a decrease in anxiety. However, some individuals are more sensitive to caffeine than others. It’s usually safe to consume up three cups of coffee if you don’t have any health issues.
What if I drink more than the recommended amount?
Drinking too much (usually more than 400 mg) can lead to side effects like insomnia, fast heartbeat, stomach upset, restlessness and irritability. However, some people are caffeine sensitive and feel even small amounts of caffeine.
As always, listen to your body and reduce your caffeine intake whenever you feel side effects.
