There are many diets out there that promote a weight loss of 10 pounds a week. Cutting off calories strictly does lead to weight loss. But so does, not having an adequate amount of food available and therefore being malnourished. Starving is actually exactly what our bodies think is happening when we force it to work with way fewer calories. All the functions which are not needed to survive are slowed or shut down. For instance, your energy levels, your fertility and sex drive, and your brain function. Keep in mind that it’s natural that your body needs time to adjust.
Here are some first steps to getting started:
- Here at 8fit, we recommend that you do at least 4 workouts sessions a week to get the best results. If you feel you can do another workout, please do, just ensure that you don’t compromise your form whilst doing so, and ensure that you rest once a week to help your muscles recover and get stronger.
- Nutrition counts for 80% of your results, so try to follow our meals at least 80% of the time: you can choose your meal plans in the Meals screen (the one with the avocado), or read our free nutrition guide for great tips.
- Remember that drinking water is very important. You should aim to drink around 2 liters per day.
- Try to get 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Insufficient sleep can increase hunger, appetite, and stress hormones all while sabotaging your motivation to make healthy choices.
